چکیده

Electric dipole moments of nuclei, diamagnetic atoms, and certain molecules are induced by $CP$-violating nuclear forces. Naive dimensional analysis predicts these forces to be dominated long-range one-pion-exchange processes with short-range entering only at next-to-next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion. Based on renormalization arguments we argue that a consistent picture requires leading-order short-distance operator contributing $^{1}S_{0}\text{\ensuremath{-}}^{3}P_{0}$ transitions due attractive singular nature strong tensor force $^{3}P_{0}$ channel. The leads $O(1)$ corrections static oscillating, relevant for axion searches, electric moments. We discuss strategies how finite part associated low-energy constant can determined case $CP$ violation from QCD $\overline{\ensuremath{\theta}}$ term connection charge-symmetry systems.

Wave Functions for Parity–Violating Nuclear Forces

Tensor representation (TR) for wave function (WF) of three–nucleon bound state with the total angular momentum I = 1/2 is discussed. The WF in TR has 16 complex components depending on vectors of relative momenta. Constraints on the WF imposed by requirements of invariance with respect to space inversion and time reversal are studied. Both parity– even and parity–odd components of the 3N bound ...

The renormalization group and nuclear forces.

I give an outline of recent applications of the renormalization group to effective theories of nuclear forces, focusing on the use of a Wilsonian approach to analyse systems of two or three non-relativistic particles.

Consideration of Nuclear Forces from the Viewpoint of the Renormalization Group Relation of Nuclear Forces between Phenomenological Approach and Nuclear Effective Field Theory

A relation between nuclear forces derived using a phenomenological approach and nuclear effective field theory (NEFT) is proposed from a renormalization group point of view. A phenomenological nuclear force (Vph) and an NEFT-based NN-potential (VEFT ) are satisfactorily related to each other through the Wilsonian renormalization group (WRG) method. It is clearly shown that use of the simple con...

Constraint on parity-violating muonic forces.

Using the nonobservance of missing mass events in the leptonic kaon decay K→μX, we place a strong constraint on exotic parity-violating gauge interactions of the right-handed muon. By way of illustration, we apply it to an explanation of the proton size anomaly that invokes such a new force; scenarios in which the gauge boson decays invisibly or is long lived are constrained.

Nuclear Forces

Nuclear forces (also known as nuclear interactions or strong forces) are the forces that act between two or more nucleons. They bind protons and neutrons (“nucleons”) into atomic nuclei. The nuclear force is about 10 millions times stronger than the chemical binding that holds atoms together in molecules. This is the reason why nuclear reactors produce about a million times more energy per kilo...
